Nose Job

Nose Surgery is not a dangerous surgery but as in all surgeries there may be small a risk of allergic reaction to the anesthesia or infection after the surgery, that is why it is best to be monitored the first 24 hours. Nose Surgery whether cosmetic or for functionality will require some post-surgery instructions and care.

After the nose surgery, the patient will feel bruised and puffy and will be on pain medication so as to keep the pain under control. There might be some swelling around the eye area mixed with the bruised bluish color for several days. A nasal strip will protect your nose and stabilize it for the next few days. Placing cold compresses or cooling masks around the eyes will help the bruising. The nose will feel stuffy but patients are told to resist the urge to blow their nose for several days following the nose surgery.

A couple of days after most plastic nose surgeries, patients will be able to get out of bed and resume most of their daily non-strenuous activities but all the while restrain from excessive effort is required. It is crucial to remember that the nose must not be rubbed or banged against anything; it remains very sensitive for several weeks. In fact, a bang even slight soon after the nose surgery will lead to a permanent bump on the nose thus ruining the overall final desired effect.

After a rhinoplasty surgery, one must not go swimming, nor sunbathe. Weight training or aerobics activities are not allowed for several weeks after nose surgery. Post surgery, it is recommended to try to keep the head lifted, even when sleeping.

Post nose plastic surgery, patients can wear contact lenses but must not wear glasses of any kind for at least the following 60 days following the operation or until your doctor allows it, since the nose remains tender for a while after the plastic surgery and any pressure can leave a dent. Patients must absolutely go to all the follow up appointments and report to their doctor anything unusual. Within 6 months, the nose will eventually take its intended size and shape and you hopefully will be able to enjoy your new and improved look.
